I wanted to share this West Town Family Session as the Solomons are one of my dearest clients. I photograph them at least once a year in or near their stylish home in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago. One of the many things I love about this family is that they embrace chaos of parenthood so well! Yes, their home is always sparkling clean and so well designed yet they’re so wonderful at letting their toddler Simon be awesome himself! There was a lot of movement, excitement, joy, play and chasing after Simon while his newborn sister Annie slept through is all!
I love photographing families throughout all stages of their life but the most precious is the time parents bring their newborn home. I remember bringing my son home from hospital but when we were about to go through a threshold my husband stopped us. He came in 1st, walked to our iPad and played a playlist of music he prepared weeks earlier. It was to set the mood and welcome our baby boy (I can’t believe it’s been 4.5 years ago already). Here’s the 1st song my son heard upon entering our home:
“Here Comes the Sun” by George Harrison
“Here comes the sun (doo doo doo doo)
Here comes the sun, and I say
It’s all right
Little darling, it’s been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It’s all right
Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It’s all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it’s been clear
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It’s all right
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It’s all right
It’s all right”
